Shay Mitchellis a Canadian actor, model and an entrepreneur. She is most well-known for playing Emily Fields in Freeform's Pretty Little Liars. After achieving great results in dance and modelingshe wanted to get into acting. She took acting classes in Toronto. Mitchell was able to land commercials along with appearances in television series. Her breakthrough came but it was when she was cast in Emily Fields' role in Pretty Little Liars. The critics and the fans alike were impressed with her performance. Her next step was to create a name for herself on the big screen through films such as DreamlandMother's Dayand The Possession of Hannah Grace. The role she played in the psychological thriller series "You" has earned her greater attention. Apart from actingShay has dabbled with writing. She co-authored Bliss an adult novel, along with Michaela Blayne. Shay Mitchell was born on the 10th of April, 1987 and was brought up in Ontario, Canada to parents Mark Mitchell and Precious Garcia. Shay Mitchell is Filipina descent, and her father is of Scottish/Irish roots. Mitchell is also Lea Salonga's cousin, the renowned musical theater actor and singer. Mitchell was a student at Rockridge Secondary school before she was transferred onto West Vancouver Secondary. At the end of her teenage years, she began modeling for different corporations across the world. Following trips to Barcelona, Bangkok and Hong Kong she went back to Toronto, where she studied acting.
